Please be aware that we have received a notification of a TTRN (urgent) road closure at Clavelshay Road, North Petherton which will commence on 5th November 2025- 7th November 2025 (08:30 - 15:30) for a total of 3 days.
This will enable Arboricare Ltd to carry out urgent oak tree dismantling on behalf of Somerset Highways.
The contractor has indicated that access for Emergency Services through the site is not permitted on this occasion.

The order becomes effective on 23rd September 2025 and will remain in force for eighteen months.
The works are expected to commence on 29th September 2025 and last for 138 days to enable Wessex Water to carry out water main replacement works.

Job Vacancy Parish Council Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer

Following the resignation of the current incumbent, Thurloxton Parish Council is seeking someone to take on the statutory role of Parish Clerk and RFO.
The role is home based with attendance at meetings in Thurloxton Village Hall every 2 months
Duties include advising elected Councillors, preparing meeting agendas, attending meetings, producing minutes, maintaining accounts, preparing financial reports, receiving, and responding to Council correspondence, updating and maintaining the parish council website, administering and maintaining Parish records.
The ideal candidate would have some experience/qualifications in general finance and administration. An understanding of local authority organisation and management, although not essential, would be an advantage. The council would consider supporting training to CilCA standard.
This is a salaried part time role of 3 hours per week, pay scale subject to qualifications and experience, with reference to the latest NALC Local Government Services Pay Agreement.
